Access information:
Granton Castle Walled Garden is an outdoor site with uneven, grassy surfaces, which can be wet or muddy, especially in winter. Wheelchair users and people with other mobility aids visit the garden throughout the year; however, some areas may be difficult to navigate without assistance or if ground conditions are poor. Most events involve slow-paced movement around the garden. Sheltered areas and plenty of chairs are available. The garden has one composting toilet that can be used during events, but it is not fully accessible. There is no running water in the garden, so please bring any food or drink you may need.
All our events are free unless noted otherwise. Donations welcome.

As the days grow warmer and the willows begin to bloom pollinators emerge from hibernation to mark the beginning of the season.

Come join us to nurture the spirits of our beloved orchard. During the cold and long winter they await our song and our blessings for a plentiful harvest. Penny Stone will be leading us in traditional and contemporary Wassailing songs.
There will be apple themed refreshments after some singing and the orchard blessing.

Come join us for wassailing at Granton Castle Walled Garden. There will be activities, songs and refreshments all inspired by the wonderful apple trees.
Wassailing is an Anglo-Saxon tradition where the fruit trees are blessed with offerings of song, food and drink to encourage them to provide a bountiful harvest. We will gather together and give the trees of our orchard a much needed cheer and scare away all of the bad spirits! Bring along some friends and family, and perhaps make yourself a lovely apple themed crown to wear.
